Shocked? Actually, Yes.

Dunstan sums up what quite a few people (but less then what was required to get a president in office) are feeling:
I want to scream at the 51% of America that decided they’d rather be represented in the World by a psychopathic, right-wing, religious zealot, than by a man like John Kerry, who by all accounts has enormous intelligence, enormous empathy, and a genuine wish to make the World a better and more sensible place.
However, while others whine and complain about how too many people voted for a “psychopath,” I have mixed emotions. I am amazed as well that so many people voted for Bush. Not because I thought Kerry was a better candidate—in fact, I can’t imagine living here with him in power—but because I know how quickly morality and truth are fleeting in this country. I have no idea how someone who is conservative, religious, and moral can even get elected with so many big-mouthed liberals running around with agendas bigger than Texas.
Therefore, my only conclusion is that God is a very gracious and good God, one who is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6); one who destroys the wisdom of the “wise”, and the cleverness of the “clever” (1 Cor 1:19).
Perhaps God isn’t done with America.

Unfortunately, Christians are not the only kind of people in the U.S. And that is why, I believe, 49% of the United States is angry. George Bush serves Christians, and believes in a Christian America. Kerry might have had less morals, but he did not shun Christians. He just merely gave the rest of America a choice; he did not ban Christians from prayer, etc. George Bush took away rights belonging to other types of people, and it is quite evident with the amount of racial profiling in U.S. airports and Christian laws, such as illegal abortion. Kerry didn’t believe in Christian America because there is no such thing – Kerry believed in an America with all kinds of people. And that is why, again, 49% are angry for 51% of the population that did not respect their rights.

I’m not sure where you are living, but I don’t know of any rights that have been taken away or any racial profiling Bush has implemented. In fact, I think we have the opposite problem: we are more likely to search an old grandma than a Muslim Arab. Sad.
