Committee to Explore California Secession

Is secession the only answer? Certainly not. But it could be and perhaps someday may be the only way to establish a society that respects the rights and liberties of all. It sends a loud message that California absolutely will not live under the theocracy of the religious right.

If they think America is a theocracy today then what in the world would they have said 200 years ago?

I’d like to say “good riddance” to these kind of people, but it would be truly sad if the United States were no longer united.

The Adulation of Man in The Purpose Driven Life

Through the Warren movement, multitudes are being deceived on the very meaning of the Gospel of salvation. Vast numbers sincerely believe that they have received Christ as their personal Savior while in fact all that they have received into their right hand is a man-made ritual and “covenant” commitment to a church, which they have obligated themselves by vow to fulfill.

Who says safe computing must remain a pipe dream?

A good article on security. Worth the read. My favorite quote (of course):

If possible, don’t use Microsoft Windows. Buy a Macintosh or use Linux. If you must use Windows, set up Automatic Update so that you automatically receive security patches. And delete the files “command.com” and “cmd.exe.”

However, the most useful information for the average person (other than buy a Mac) is:

Delete spam without reading it. Don’t open messages with file attachments, unless you know what they contain; immediately delete them. Don’t open cartoons, videos and similar “good for a laugh” files forwarded by your well-meaning friends; again, immediately delete them.

How To : Pick a Safe Password

For those of you who are still using “bunny” and “jesus” as passwords, you might want to read this. In this day and age, you should always have a password at least eight characters that includes numbers and letters. Something that is not a word is even better, too. :)

Jon Hicks (creator of the Firefox logo) tweaks his new site redesign a little. I like it, but then again I like most everything he does.

Google Suggest

Google

Google Suggest pops up a menu below the search bar as letters are typed, much like auto-complete features found in modern browsers. Instead of basing suggestions on a user’s search history, however, Google recommends queries based on popularity and even displays the number of results directly in the menu. Google Suggest works with most browsers using JavaScript and cookies.

This is interesting.
