The concluding comments in the EPIC 2014 narrative had a particularly Postmanesque quality about them:
”But at its worst, and for too many, EPIC is merely collection of trivia, much of it untrue, all of it narrow, shallow and sensational. But EPIC is what we wanted, is what we chose and its commercial success preempted any discussions of media and democracy or of journalistic ethics.”
I suppose Postman would have found the medium to be too “Flashy” but I suspect he would have agreed in principle with the sentiment in that prognostication.
Fire and Knowledge aims to be thoughtful and challenging through quotes, links, commentary and essays.
Topics include science, religion, politics, literature, history and technology. As someone said, there are no uninteresting subjects, only uninterested people.
