Ditch your car

Here is a great story about a family who got rid of their car and replaced it with bikes and public transportation. I’ve wanted to do this for a couple years now, but just haven’t had the courage.

I think the best part of the article is that they “spent more time together as a family.” That’s environmentally friendly.

    J. Clark: Very true! I think the world would be a lot better if we all rode bikes and just used public transportation or community rental cars when they were needed. We would save money, get exercise, spend more time with family, meet neighbors, support local places, and stop polluting so much.

    Interesting how cultures are different.
Here in Switzerland, you can easily live without a car because public transport is very good here.

Even as a family it doesn’t need much courage to live without a car.
In Switzerland we have “car sharing”, an association where you can sign up and then use one of their cars for a few hours - for that occasions when you have to transport a heavy something or just need to go somewhere far off where public transport would be quite a hassle.
