iPhone Mini

Prediction: That within a year, Apple will release or announce some kind of iPhone Mini that is smaller, cheaper, and has fewer features. They did this for the Mac (the Mac Mini) and for the iPod (Nano and Shuffle) to bring the price down and reach a new market, and they’ll do it for the iPhone, too.

I really hope your prediction doesn’t come to pass. I was talking with a group of about 8 people the other day, and the topic of cell phones came up. All 8 of us had purchased cell phones in the last 5 years, and some had purchased 3 cell phones in that period.
It takes large amounts of water and other natural resources to manufacture these phones, and they contain heavy metals and other toxic chemicals that have to be recycled.
I think we should try to promote the idea that cell phones and other consumer electronics should have much longer life spans.
And of course, with each new cell phone comes another distracted driver/media addict, amusing him- or herself to death with the latest techno gadget.

Maybe, but I think it’s more likely they’ll stick with a single iPhone model with different memory capacities. They will probably make multiple iPod Touch models, though, or possibly even revamp all the iPods to have touchscreens, as has been rumored.
