Take a deep breath, it’s okay.

I know many of my readers are disappointed this morning because Barack Obama won the election. But take a deep breath. It’s going to be okay. Really.

I’m excited about the change ahead. I do not agree with Obama on everything, but I think he will be an excellent President. In fact, he may end up being the best president in 50 years. He certainly has the potential — but we will see if his actions live up to his words.

I am glad most of you voted against Obama because of real issues, not because of superficial and false reasons (like you think he’s a Muslim or associates with terrorists or is a socialist or other silly campaign rhetoric). Anyone who has read Obama’s books or really listened to him speak know those are false. You had fundamental ideological differences, and I respect that.

I know many of you are “one issue voters” and would vote against the best guy in the world if he supported abortion. I understand that.

But the campaign is over now. We must move past our differences and work together.

It’s time to see the positives instead of only the negatives. Obama has a compelling vision for America that is much needed. He has a great energy policy. He is going to bring this drawn-out Iraq war to a close. Education will be better funded. Most of us will get a tax break. The country’s infrastructure will be strengthened. Foreign relations will improve, because the world wanted Obama to win too. Hey, he may even be able to balance the budget, unlike all those recent “fiscal conservatives.”

We all want a better America. We want freedom to pursue happiness, a strong and healthy economy, security from terrorism, an end to poverty, our children to be better educated, to decrease our reliance on foreign oil, health care to be affordable, a government free from corruption, foreign relations to improve, an end to war, security for the disabled and elderly, freedom of or from religion, and equality for all people no matter how different they are from us.

We may disagree how to reach these goals, but this is the American dream that we all love and would die for.

We can support most of Obama’s initiatives, and as our new President, I hope most of us will.

Now, how does that Kool-Aid taste? Do you like the cherry or the grape variety better?

How can you say he has a “great energy policy”? What EXACTLY is it? He has been all over the map. Now he wants to bankrupt the coal industry.

Education will be funded? And this is good? Where, in the U.S. Constitution, does it suggest that the federal government should have its sticky fingers in education? Please cite the reference.

What about “universal health care”? Please find that in the Constitution, as well.

Foreign relations will improve…really? Of course the “world” wanted “The One” to win, so that should suggest that is one reason EXACTLY why he shouldn’t have. Our enemies wanted him win.

Tax Break? Are you kidding? How can any candidate ethically cut ANYONE’S taxes when we are not only in DEBT, but continue to dig an even-larger DEBT hole each and every day.

Balance the Budget? What would make you suggest that?

Listen, I am “The One’s” favored middle-class since I make less than $250K (or was it $200K…or $150K…or $120K, well any of those). I already do not pay taxes; in fact, I have received a “rebate” tax credit check every year for the last ten years (2 years prior to Bush in office) in the order of over $2,000. How is he going to cut my taxes even more?

Yes he “handily” defeated McCain, but what percentage of the votes were valid. Will that question ever be raised by the Obama-edia? If the Fairness Doctrine prevails, won’t the MSM be required to dig deeper in the the fraud that has plagued the Obama campaign from the beginning? Has this man yet proved that he rightfully is even qualified (again, according to the US Constitution) to serve as President? Can he truthfully swear to “uphold the Constitution” in his oath of office, when his dubious election scorned the very document?

“Dubious election?” Where’s your proof of voter fraud? What fraud has “plagued” the Obama campaign from the beginning? Please, enlighten me. And who are you to judge this president’s record before he has actually taken office? Sounds like you’re the one drinking the Hannity/Limbaugh Kool-Aid. Good post, Josh.

Just one example of voter fraud here: http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081010/NEWS0502/810100471

Obama has documented ties to ACORN which “found” many of these “new “people.” (note the heavy use of quotes…picture me giving “air quotes” while saying these words).

    DUBIOUS!

Why did you not respond at all to the constitutionality of any of his programs? This is at the heart of my argument.

The fact is the only record I can judge of “The One” is his limited senate voting record (since for the majority of his term in office, he has been on the campaign trail) and his Illinois state senate record. And talk about dubious, the further back you go, the more dubious you find out “The One” is (here: http://colony14.net/id41.html and note over 450 sources). “The One” voted against protecting the lives of babies who survived late-term abortions.

    DUBIOUS!

I have NEVER listened to or watched Hannity and it has been at least ten years since I listened to Rush.

If you only receive your news from the MSM, then you are on the Kool-Aid free refill plan.

    fool on!

Yeah, if you’re not reading Conspiracy Times you just don’t have a clue about what’s really going on. I also heard Obama orchestrated the Holocaust and wrote the Communist Manifesto. He’s actually a Muslim commie time traveler from the 27th century! DUBIOUS!

    please!

    This is my last comment.

I have tried to only state facts to this point, citing newspapers and well-documented articles. I have only been scoffed at and NO ONE HAS RESPONDED TO THE CORE ISSUE WHICH I BROUGHT UP. What EXACTLY is his plan, and if he has a detailed one, is it constitutional?

This is exactly the way the obamanots attacked anyone who brought up anything against “The One” during the campaign (Joe “The Plumber”).

    Your satire is tired.

I assumed that being the webmaster of Desiring God’s website, that you would want to look into truth and righteousness, and not fall for the squishy, plush toy-elect rhetoric of “hope” and “change.”

What happens when the vague buzzwords of “hope”, “change” and “middle-class-spread-the-wealth” become as annoying as the laughter of a ten year old Tickle-Me-Elmo?

    Keep laughing.

My only hope is the LORD Jesus Christ.

My experience has been that people of your persuasion can be difficult to reason with. Perhaps you are different, but I don’t think I could dissuade you from your position — it’s what you want to believe. It’s not worth my time arguing when minds cannot be changed.

I have looked into it, and the assertion of voter fraud is unfounded. There is absolutely no evidence linking Obama with voter fraud. There were some issues with ACORN employees, but they were turned in by ACORN and those voter registrations were not submitted. There is NO evidence that Obama has ANYTHING to do with it.

And as for your accusations that so many ideas are not in the constitution (like public education and health care), none of our amendments — including the bill of rights — were in the constitution. That is why they are amendments. This argument could be used for anything. I mean, is there anything in the constitution against homosexual marriage? Then I guess you think it should be legal. What about slavery — there’s nothing against it in the constitution, so legislation against it should have never been passed. Etc. Times change, and one wonderful thing about our government is that it can change too. That’s why it’s written into the Constitution that it can be changed (through amendments) or abolished as the people see fit.

My point was that you may not agree with everything Obama stands for, but he’s our President — he’s the President that God put in office — and we need to support him as much as we can.
